Official Labrador Retriever Clubs
The following official clubs and parent organizations have issued statements or adopted breed standards that explicitly state the Labrador Retriever comes in only three recognized colors: Black, Yellow, and Chocolate. They do not recognize, endorse, or accept "silver" or other dilute colors as purebred Labrador traits:

Veterinary & Genetic Professionals
Leading canine geneticists and reproductive specialists, including figures such as Dr. Fran Smith, DVM, PhD, DACT, endorse the scientific consensus that the 'dd' dilute gene responsible for the "silver" coat color was historically not present in the purebred Labrador Retriever gene pool and is the result of crossbreeding (specifically with the Weimaraner).

Ethical Breeders Network
Hundreds of AKC, UKC, and internationally registered Breeders of Merit stand with us. These ethical breeders prioritize health, temperament, and adherence to the historical breed standard over the mass production of "fad" colors for profit.
